Explore Colombia's Remote Pacific Coast

The Choco region is one of the most wild and remote places in Colombia. Covering 1.4% of the earth's surface, it is home to 60% of the world's plant and animal species. Join us on an unforgettable journey! Canoe through jungle rivers, stay with and learn from coastal communities, indulge in local cuisine, and experience one of the most biodiverse regions on earth.

Itinerary

Day 1:

Welcome to the lush and mountainous city of Medellin! As explorers arrive throughout the day there are no activities planned until our group meets at 5pm for our Welcome Meeting (check-in for our accomodation is at 4pm).

Your guide will give you some recommendations to enjoy the city until then! Please arrive on time for our first Welcome Meeting, we will be having a group dinner in our private accomodation soon after. It’s best to get a flight that arrives on the morning of March 20th to ensure you’re prepared.

Day 2:

Wake up and get ready for to board our own charter flight over the jungle to the Pacific Coast! Our flight to the coast is less than 60 minutes. Once we arrive we will take a short boat ride to the local community we will be staying with. Enjoy lunch at your cabana before our activities.

Visit the local museum, and meet the community Curandero to make a herbal tea using whats in his garden and learn about their medicinal properties.

Day 3:

Wake up to the sound of the ocean and a delicious breakfast! All the food you will be having here is locally grown and harvested.

For today we will be trekking into the jungle with our local naturalist guide in search of unique frog species (and anything else we may spot!). Afterwards enjoy a refreshing swim at a waterfall in the jungle.

Day 4:

Take a 45 minute boat ride to spend the day at one of the most beautiful national parks in Colombia. On our way we will be stopping by some natural hot springs. Once at the national park, we will have time to explore and go snorkeling by a shipwreck!

Day 5:

Today is a big day. Enjoy a free morning before we begin our canoe trip up river to spend the night in pristine wilderness.

We will be traveling in traditional dug-out canoes. Spot a variety of bird species and hear their sounds as we make our way up river to our spot for the night.

Be sure to bring your swim suit and take a dip!

Sleeping arrangements will either be tents or hammocks for the night.

This is not a physically demanding activity as there will be assistance with paddling up river.

Day 6:

Arrive back from our canoe trip in the morning.

Today is a free day for you to enjoy what the community has to offer on your own terms. Walk around the community, grab a book, go for a walk, hang out with friends you make in the community, or go swimming and enjoy our secluded beach paradise.

In the evening we will be enjoying a specially prepared meal for dinner at the community fine-dining restaurant.

Day 7:

Today we will be doing an authentic cooking class using freshly harvested ingredients and traditional methods by the community. Our cooking class will take place at the community fine-dining restaurant. This is a restaurant that was founded for the community by Leonar Espinosa, one of the best chefs in Colombia.

Day 8:

Today is our last day. After breakfast we will board our charter flight back to Medellin and say our goodbyes.

If you plan to stay in the country longer to explore, your guide can assist you with any onward travel arrangements you require!

Please note that while we try our best to follow the itinerary, the itinerary may be subject to change due to unforseen circumstances, weather conditions, or anything that would be of concern to the health and safety of our explorers.
